Seniors, Guardians, and Parents are advised to become familiar with the various aspects of the Graduation process detailed below. The designated dates for any events described below will be announced on the Senior Class Homepage. Please direct any questions you may have to Mr McMartin via e-mail.
PARTICIPATION POLICY FOR GRADUATION: All graduating Seniors must attend two mandatory sessions of Graduation Practice in order to participate in the Graduation Ceremony. Seniors who choose to miss either of these mandatory practice sessions will automatically be dismissed from Graduation. The only exception to this policy will be in the case of serious extenuating circumstances, and will only be approved beforehand by West Stokes High School Administrators. Students who fail to notify the Administration of serious extenuating circumstances will automatically be dismissed from Graduation.
DRESS CODE FOR GRADUATES: Male Graduates are to wear: (1) a white dress shirt; (2) dark tie; (3) black pants; (4) black dress shoes. Female Graduates are to wear: (1) a dress or skirt that does not fall below the Graduation Gown hemline; (2) a dress or blouse that does not rise above the Graduation Gown neckline (unless it is white); (3) appropriate footwear that does not expose the toes.
EARLY GRADUATES MEETING: Students who choose to graduate after the completion of First Semester will attend a meeting during which they will be apprised of their remaining student privileges and responsibilities. Early Graduates are eligible to participate in the Graduation Ceremony and will be responsible for complying with all participation policies related to the Graduation Ceremony. Early Graduates will receive periodic e-mail updates on important events and will be responsible for checking these e-mails.
4 TICKETS ONLY: In clear weather, Graduation will be held in the football stadium. In this case, Graduates may have as many loved ones in attendance as they wish. In the event of rain or other inclement weather condition, Graduation will be moved into the Main Gymnasium. Under these circumstances, each Graduate will be limited to 4 tickets for loved ones to witness the ceremony live. All other well-wishers will be able to view the graduation in the school building via live video feed.

STUDENT FEES: Graduates must have paid all Student Fees in order to participate in the Graduation Ceremony. Student Fees over your entire West Stokes career can include the following: Class Fees, Cafeteria Accounts, Media Center Materials, Textbooks, Fundraiser Money, Parking Tickets. Please contact Mrs. Sizemore to ensure that your West Stokes account is current. Seniors who fail to address their financial obligations to West Stokes will be excluded from the Graduation Ceremony.
Final Due Date: First Graduation Practice (beginning)
FIRST GRADUATION PRACTICE: Graduates will report to the Main Gymnasium for the first practice session. Students are to dress casually and comfortably. At this session, students will be introduced to the order of Graduation and will be trained in the necessary procedures for the actual ceremony, including: Acceptable Dress; Seating Arrangements; Processional; Stage Etiquette; Recessional.
SECOND GRADUATION PRACTICE: Graduates will report to the Main Gymnasium. Students are to dress casually and comfortably. At this session, students will review the previous day’s training, and then will learn procedures for the Ceremony as they will take place at the Football Stadium, including: Arrival time and Designated Entrances; Seating Arrangements; Ceremony Cues for Diploma Reception; Full Ceremony Rehearsal; Ticket Distribution and Admonitions During the final Ceremony Rehearsal, students will receive the 4 Guest Tickets to which each family is entitled. Students who fail to attend this Graduation Practice will not receive Tickets.
GRADUATION CEREMONY: All Graduates will report to the 100 Hall properly dressed in Caps and Gowns 1 hour prior to the Graduation Ceremony.
DIPLOMA CHANGES: In the unlikely event that errors have been made on Diploma Materials, Graduates are to return their Diploma Materials to the Front Office and complete a “Diploma Change Form”. New materials will be ordered on the Graduate’s behalf. Upon their arrival to West Stokes, Graduates will be contacted to pick up their corrected materials. There will be a limited time frame during which changes can be made free of charge, and this time frame will be communicated to Graduates prior to the Ceremony.
